Alice in Thunderland’s latest album – Truth in Silence
This album commences with gusto, blasting out rhythmic heavy riffs and then the voice of Kala descends, powerful and seductive. The song title is ‘Open Your Eyes’ but it will be your ears that are fully engaged, as it’s a promising start and this 8 track album showcases a well-chosen selection of the band’s efforts, from the insistently pounding to melodic rock. ‘Black n’ Blue’, track 2, then starts with some relatively mellow guitar, the vocals well-controlled and evoking the sense of painful emotion that permeates the track.
There is a classic heavy metal feel about the sound of this album, and it is the sort that definitely has you nodding or tapping along quite quickly. Title track ‘Truth in Silence’ is possibly the stand-out track, certainly from a personal point of view, but final song, ‘Chasing Rainbows’, is also a winner. The former blends chilling vocals and paranoia-laden lyrics with a steady metal groove; the musical parts are in well-balanced harmony. The latter’s title belies it heaviness, an anthem of anger and determination over pulsing musical lines.
Each element of the musical talent in Alice in Thunderland gets their moment during the course of the album, and it leaves you aching to see them live because the passion that comes across on the recording is tangible.
