We’re delighted to present a selection of photos from photographer Phil Thorns, featuring this year’s Scarborough Punk Festival at Scarborough Spa. The two day event was hugely successful and featured a great mix of punk artists.

Phil Thorns is a freelance gig and event photographer, as well as a passionate music reviewer, contributing to publications such as Punktuation, In Spite, Louder Than War, Safety Pin, All Music Magazine, and various local press outlets. With an unrelenting love for live music, he travels across the UK capturing the raw energy of gigs, from intimate grassroots venues to major festivals. His photography and writing don’t just document the scene—they bring it to life, preserving the spirit of live music through powerful imagery and insightful storytelling.

Most recently, in March 2025, Phil released a 72-page book featuring over 100 striking photos from the Scarborough Punk Festival of 2024, a visual chronicle of the festival’s chaos, energy, and passion. Plans are afoot for this to possibly be an annual event.

We are delighted to be able to feature Phil’s work on Yorkshire Coast Gigs. His Photobook from 2024 can be purchased here.

Earlybird tickets for Scarborough Punk Festival 2026, on March 28 and 29, can be purchased here.
