Having spent a long day at The Peacock Freakshow on a particularly fine summer Saturday of August 9th, I couldn’t resist an opportunity to nip across to The Stirling Castle to catch a set from Bridlington’s own Nick Tudor, who was supporting tribute band, Frankly, The Smiths.

The setlist consisted of Easy, Blue Hymns, Rain Grey Town, Last Taxi on the Promenade, Waiting for Flowers, Speak Up and I Just Can’t Decide for Myself.  With shades of Springsteen sprinkled throughout, and some superb guitar work, the songs flow with upbeat yet bittersweet sentiment, and the crowd appeared to be very much enjoying what they heard – there was great onstage and offstage energy, a winning combination.

With a hearty shout out to remind people to support venues, promoters and bands, Nick warmed the audience up well for the remainder of their evening and reminded us why it’s such a treat to have local, original music getting the opportunity to be heard on a busy Saturday night – something The Stirling Castle can be heartily commended for.
