In addition to our recent article regarding Connor Lawlor’s upcoming EP Launch, the duo ‘Connor and Nathen’ have been successful in making it through to the Regional Final of the Open Mic UK Singing Competition, which will be held in Newcastle at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre on Saturday 19th of October. Tickets are £8 for any fans who want to go along and support this popular, talented local duo, and are available on the website ( www.openmic.co.uk, on the door (subject to availability), or from Connor Lawlor.
At their audition on the 14th of September alongside hundreds of other hopefuls, they performed in front of a panel of judges and had only ninety seconds to impress them. They performed their mash-up of Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’ and Eminem’s ‘The Monster’, and impress they did. The judges were wowed by their performance and as a result, they progressed through to the next stage of the competition.
Open Mic UK 2014 is the biggest search for unsigned talent in the UK, and travels the country every year to search for the UK’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres, performing either covers or their own original material. The competition is run by Future Music. Thousands of hopefuls entered Open Mic UK nationwide and hundreds of auditionees attended on the day for their turn to impress the judges. Those who made it through the audition stage will now take part in a live head-to-head battle alongside the best talent in their region, performing in front of hundreds of audience members and a music industry judging panel in their bid to win a place at the National Grand Final.
All participants are aiming to make it to that prestigious Grand Final, where the spotlight will shine on them and they’ll have the chance to win the main prize of £5,000 to spend on the development of their music career.
Help to show support for Connor Lawlor and Nathan Walters at Regional level, to spur them on to the National Grand Final and what they hope will be their crack at getting a foothold on the first rung of the ladder to success!
