We’re setting up a series of Open Meetings across the area for anyone who wants to finds out more about Yorkshire Coast Gigs CIC and what we do – or could do – for grassroots music.

The first batch cover Scarborough and Bridlington, with more dates due to come for Whitby and Filey areas soon.

Come along if you are:

  • Interested in volunteering (various roles / opportunities)
  • Already volunteer but want to check in and catch up with us
  • Are a musician, promoter, venue manager etc and want to chat about your news or how we can mutually support each other

It’s 6pm til 8pm for all sessions (but check out what’s on offer afterwards, most dates will have something happening afterwards that you could stick around to enjoy!)

🎸Friday 8th May – The Crescent Lounge, Scarborough, 1-2 Belvoir Ter, Scarborough YO11 2PP

(open mic hosted by poet Graham Rhodes afterwards)

📸Wednesday 13th May – The Queens Bar and Coffee House, High St, Bridlington YO16 4PN

(acoustic night hosted by Fin Hines afterwards)

🎶Monday 18th May – The Stirling Castle, 32 Queen St, Bridlington YO15 2SN

(we’ll probably be upstairs on the balcony)

✒️Wednesday 20th May – The Cask & Keg, Cambridge Terrace, Scarborough YO11 2LQ

(open mic with John Watton due to take place after)

If you can’t make a session – drop us a line! Email, DM, carrier pigeon – get in touch.

If you need any support to access the meetings, drop us a line and we’ll get back to you ASAP. DM’s or info@yorkshirecoastgigs.co.uk

We’re looking for contributors – live music champions in all senses – who are enthusiastic about our local music scene and want to support grassroots artists, gigs and venues.

Writers, photographers, editors, content creators, proofreaders, maybe you could help out on the door at gigs or merch stalls, maybe you are just a good, chatty advocate for things, maybe you have ideas for projects or could take part in putting grant applications together and staffing development projects – if anything like that sounds like something you’d like to get involved in, come chat.  Even if you’ve never done it before, we can tailor the work to you and help you learn new skills.

We’re getting asked to cover more and more stuff, some of it further afield, so willingness to travel won’t hurt.  But we can discuss individual capacity and interests, and take it from there.

We’re a not for profit community interest company – any funds we might generate, eg: through sponsorship / advertising – go back into the project to help cover costs or fund community projects.

Our directors are Kath Dunn-Mines and David Ruston, and we have a strong team of regular contributors who can assist in mentorship and support new team members, but we do want to grow the pool – so get involved!
