The second Pickering Rocks Festival took place at the beginning of September, filling the streets of the town with music-loving revellers.
A family friendly event, the main festival is just one of a series of gigs and related activities that this motivated team of volunteers put together across the year. Some of our Yorkshire Coast Gigs team were able to attend and enjoy a few hours of the main day in Market Place. Local rock outfit Hunter Gatherer were a particular highlight, amidst a day of impressive acts and equally impressive event organisation. Other acts included Poison Dart, Penny Fleck, Kirkby Soul, Gumbox and Ross McWhirter – sadly we couldn’t stay to catch them all this time around, but what a great line-up!

The music wasn’t the only merriment on offer, as there were fairground rides, circus activities, face painting and more on offer to captivate the younger ones. With a range of independent shops, cafes and pubs lining the street, there was plenty to suit all tastes. As the afternoon forged on, the crowds grew, with a great atmosphere in the air throughout.
The next event coming up for the crew is a weekender across 11th-13th October, at Pickering Memorial Hall.
