Taking place at King Billy (ex-White Rooms) in Hull’s old town, the next event boasts a line-up of 5 exciting bands. The night will be co-headlined by The Jackobins, a psych/alt/rock band from Liverpool, and La Petite Mort, an exhilarating psych/groove rock band from York.
Drawing comparisons to classic bands such as The Doors and The Velvet Underground, Merseysides’ The Jackobins are known to put on an electrifying live show boasting powerful vocals and pumped up, gargantuan guitar riffs, with a sound that can appeal to almost everybody without ever sounding contrived.
Playing songs from a well-reviewed EP, The Jackobins are a live act worth catching before they start to get deservedly huge.
Should that not be enough to fully whet your whistle, rest assured that York-based Grunge/Groove/Shoegaze/Psych band La Petite Mort can also deliver the goods. They’ve made recent waves headlining material in their own right with a psychedelia and shoegaze blend, set off with a raw 21st century twang pulling on hip hop beats, reggae rhythms, ethnic tickles and astronomical ambience, all topped off with a grungey bloop!
They’ve recently started building a fan base in Hull after a couple of shows at the Sesh and a slot at Humber Street Sesh 2014. They’ve supported the likes of Tribes, Peace, Little Comets, Johnny Borrell and Cosmo Jarvis.
Other acts to play this gig include local melodic grunge group Felony, varied experimental rock group Coaves, and hard-hitting Mod-rock band The Shed Club.
The gig takes place at King Billy in Hull’s old town on the 23rd October. Tickets available on the door.
