Organisers of Scarborough's popular Coastival arts festival are offering fans the chance to enjoy a summer picnic.

The annual Coastival Summer Picnic will feature DJs playing funky, chilled out summer tunes in the beautiful gardens at Woodend on 7th August.

Admission is free and people are urged to bring their own food and drink and a blanket and join in the fun! Children and pets are also welcome.

DJs will include Mister Tooley, Kista, Dr Filey Selassie, DJ Phez and Victor Swanvesta.

Coastival director Wendy Holroyd said: "Our Coastival picnic is a fixture in the calendar now and we are delighted to be holding it again this year.

"We hope for good weather so that we can enjoy some great music and good company in the wonderful, chilled afternoon atmosphere."

Thousands flocked to the main Coastival event in February, bringing an out-of-season financial boost to Scarborough.

An analysis of February's three-day arts festival shows a total of 6,230 people at the festival events over the weekend.

Estimates suggest this brought a direct economic boost of £426,781 into Scarborough. The continuing effect of that money spent through the economy – known as the induced economic impact – is estimated at around £650,549 for the Scarborough local economy.
