Flyer Advertising 80s Acts To Perform At The Spa Bridlington This Summer

It’s time to dig out your 80s fashions and party with an original 80s artist, from the decade that brought us leg warmers, shoulder pads, big hair and all things neon!

Every Saturday between 23 July and 20 August, an 80s star will perform their classic hits from this iconic decade at The Spa Bridlington, as well as an 80s disco until late.

Stars to perform are The Blow Monkeys, Toyah Wilcox, Johnny Hates Jazz, Sonia and Big Country.

The Blow Monkeys – Saturday 23 July
The name "Blow Monkeys" will forever be synonymous in the minds of fans with their range of international hit songs; as Digging Your Scene and It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way, with Dr Robert the iconic frontman. Since they reformed in 2008 The Blow Monkeys have been recording and performing again with almost indecent haste. This is a chance to catch a legendary band with all four original members performing at the peak of their powers with a mix of "classic hits" and brand new songs - all infused with that enigmatic simian soul.

Toyah – Saturday 30 July
In a career spanning over 35 years she has amassed 13 top 40 singles, recorded 24 albums and toured live across the world. In this lively and energetic concert with her full live electric band you can expect to hear hit singles Good Morning Universe, Thunder In The Mountains and It's A Mystery alongside classics Danced and Ieya.

Johnny Hates Jazz – Saturday 6 August
"Shattered Dreams" became a top 5 hit in the UK, throughout mainland Europe and Asia, number 2 in Japan and the USA. It was followed by four other worldwide hits, being the anti-war anthem "I Don't Want To Be A Hero", "Turn Back The Clock" (featuring Kim Wilde on backing vocals) and "Heart Of Gold". Their album "Turn Back The Clock" entered the UK charts at number 1, going double-platinum and selling 4 million copies in the process. It is arguably one of the definitive albums of the 1980's.

Sonia – Saturday 13 August
Her debut single You’ll Never Stop Me from Loving You was released in 1989 and shot to number one in the UK selling a staggering 350,000 copies. Everybody Knows, her debut album sold half million copies and included a string of top singles such as Can’t Forget You, Listen To Your Heart and Counting Every Minute. In 1993 she came second to the Irish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, and her single Better The Devil You Know hit the UK charts at number 9.

Big Country – Saturday 20 August
Steeped in a stunning catalogue of proud and stirring hit songs, the band will perform classic hits and live favourites: including Harvest Home, Fields of Fire, In A Big Country, Chance (which sold 2 million), Wonderland, and their biggest UK hit Look Away.
