Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Following the success of last year’s free afternoon shows at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Borough Council is bringing them back for this season.

The ‘Big Day Out’ show, featuring the best of Scarborough’s entertainers, will take to the stage on Monday and Thursday each week from Monday 29 July until Monday 26 August with a final show on Wednesday 28 August.  The fun starts at 1pm with Punch and Judy and a chance to meet several popular mascot characters before a grand parade at 1.30pm.  The show will then start on stage at 2pm.

Every Tuesday from 6 to 27 August, starting at 12pm, ‘good guys’ will compete with ‘baddies’ in bouts of American wrestling.

The Monday shows will feature James Aconley and friends, Kevin O'Connors Irish dancers, dancers from Scarborough Dance Centre, Dean Stansby and mayhem from Double Trouble.

On Thursdays, stars from the Scarborough Spa summer shows will take to the stage with excerpts from The Wizard of Oz, the music of Take That and much more.  They will be joined by the sensational sisters McQueen, pantomime star Katie Gregson, Sam Jewison and contributions from Twilight Productions and The Hatton School of Performing Arts.

The Monday and Thursday shows will be hosted by Scarborough’s very own Magic Mike, with his own kaleidoscope of mirth, magic and audience participation and there will be children’s face painting.  There will also be a special appearance of Bluebird Vehicles’ vintage charabanc on Thursdays.
