Calamity Jane

This Autumn, Whitby Pavilion Cinema invites you to sing along with the 1953 musical film spectacular Calamity Jane; starring Doris Day and Howard Keel.

At first curvaceous Calamity is too darned busy fighting Indians and cracking a bullwhip to pay much mind to such girlie frill as dresses and perfume. And Wild Bill is too danged busy wooing a dainty chanteuse to give a hoot about a hotheaded tomboy.

But things change in a rootin', tootin' big way, with love and romance just down the trail. There are wide-open Technicolor Western spaces, lots of high-stepping terpsichory and a hummable humdinger of a score by Academy Award winning songwriters Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster, who won an Oscar for the classic ballad (and '50's mega hit) 'Secret Love'.

Jill Gomez-Mannion, Operations and Events Manager at Whitby Pavilion, stated "We're thrilled to be able to show this fantastic film and invite the audience to sing along."

This unique sing-along film will be shown on Friday 30th September at 7.30pm and Sunday 2nd October at 2.30pm.

Tickets are now on sale priced at £5, and are available from Whitby Pavilion's Box Office (01945) 458899 and via www.whitbypavilion.co.uk
