Ray Kirk

Ray Kirk’s Tuesday Tea Dance made a welcome return to Whitby Pavilion after the January hiatus.

Regulars to the weekly dance sessions descended to the seaside venue on the 2016 opening, which took place on Tuesday 9 February. As usual, Ray was on top form both behind the keys and on the microphone, with his warm humour resonating across the Northern Lights Suite dance floor.

This will be the fifteenth season that Ray has brought the electronic organ sounds to Whitby Pavilion, proving that his tea dances are as popular now as they ever have been.

Tea Dances with Ray Kirk take include an extensive mixture of all kinds of dance music - modern ballroom, popular sequence, Latin American, olde tyme and jive and as there is never any set programme, Ray is more than happy to include any requests.

He has become known for his accurate and consistent dance timing, the wide range of music he plays, his informality and willingness to always give a little bit extra and coupled with the fact that the Pavilion has one of the largest dance floors in North Yorkshire, beautifully situated by the sea.

The tea dances continue to be very popular attracting a regular clientele, some of whom travel long distances from a very wide surrounding area. In addition, during the summer months, the Tea Dances have visiting coach parties from dance clubs in many areas including Teesside, York, Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds and Rotherham.

Tickets for ‘Tea Dances with Ray Kirk’ are now on sale priced at £3.75. Tickets are available from The Whitby Pavilion Box Office (01947) 458899, via www.whitbypavilion.co.uk and are available on the door.
