Charlie Brown

Scarborough Borough Council is pleased to announce that British singer songwriter Charlie Brown will be the main support act for Leona Lewis at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Friday 12 July 2012.

Charlie Brown stormed the charts in March with his debut single 'On My Way' and 2013 looks set to continue his reign as the one to watch this year.  Hotly tipped by industry powerhouses such as Red Pages, Kiss, Capital and Playlist and with a loyal and growing fan base, Charlie's graft and determination over the last ten years is certainly paying off.    Radio 1 DJ Jameela Jamil has described Charlie as the male answer to Jessie J and celebrity supporters have come out in force from Pixie Lott to Wiley, Little Mix to Misha B.

2012 saw Charlie embark on his first national tour after being personally asked by Dappy to be his tour support and in May this year, Charlie joined UK R&B legend Craig David on the UK leg of his world tour.  Charlie has already performed to thousands of his fans this summer at festivals such as The Isle of Wight and Future Hits Live, alongside some of pop’s biggest names.

In the last 12 months, Charlie has travelled around the world recording his debut album 'Dreamstate' with an array of established producers and writers as well as some of the music industry's finest up and coming talent.  Collaborations include Quiz & Larossi (Conor Maynard, Cover Drive), MoJam (Emeli Sandé, Professor Green), Mushtaq (Amy Winehouse, Tich).   Artists currently featured on ‘Dreamstate’ include street star Yungen and vocalist Ms D who has made waves in the charts alongside Wiley.

As a songwriter Charlie has been drafted in to work with some of the industry's finest names including The Script, Frank Ocean and Jay Sean to name but a few.

Leona and Charlie will also be joined by local star, Robyn Keech.
